A lunula pendant, based on a find from Birka discovered in grave Bj 660. The original was made of silver and featured filigree work. Lunula pendants were common in ancient Slavic and Nordic cultures, taking the shape of a crescent moon, symbolically associated with the moon and femininity. It was believed that these pendants offered protection against evil forces, demons, and witchcraft. The word “lunula” originates from the Slavic word for moon – “Luna”.
